When we first saw Chaos and Couture Cakes we wanted to get married again - just to eat cake!
These divine creations from Nadia French are created out of her Sutherland Studio. Imagination is Nadia's strong point - after all who else could create a cake around a live fish tank! wow!
Who is Chaos and Couture Cakes?: Nadia French
When did you start your business?
I have been making cakes for 20 years and in 2010 I decided to make it into a business. Then 2012 I opened up my own studio in Sutherland.
What made you start your business?
I was always interested in food and always loved desserts I worked in the Australian Women's Weekly test kitchen, there I worked on many of the cake books and people just started asking me to make cakes for them so I did. And it just grew from there.
Any funny stories or requests from clients?
One of the most unusual cakes I've had to make was a cake that had to be made around a live fish in a tank! I have actually made quite a few weird and wonderful for this same client! Always good fun though!
What do you do in your spare time?
Running around after 4 children and a husband and I am also a coach and athlete with the Bexley Baton Twirlers.
Your favourite place to visit in the Sutherland Shire?
Bass and Flinders Point at Cronulla.
Are you married? If so, tell us about your wedding...
My wedding was 20 years ago, I made my own wedding cake and edible name place cards. Our wedding was at Sans Souci, unfortunately it rained that day but we had an amazing day anyway. My beautiful Mum walked me down the aisle and my very talented sister and Mum made my wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses.
What is your best advice for newlyweds?
You can't take yourselves too seriously and you HAVE to laugh every day!
