After spending years designing cakes and making cakes for personal indulgence,  Kacey-Lee has opened her doors to the people of the Sutherland Shire creating stunning cakes with a modern twist for your dream wedding! We speak to local cake designer Kacey-Lee.

When did you start your business?

Officially, it has been about 2 and a half years. However I have always baked, designed and created cakes and sweet treats whenever I was given the chance; and sometimes just for fun.

I started out creating more novelty cakes; but my love for all things pretty and being a romantic at heart, led to my desire to create amazing wedding and special event cakes for people to treasure on their big day.

What made you start your business?

My mum was an amazing baker. I remember coming home from school to the smell of her baking, and me wanting to help her whenever she was making things for our parties, school fetes or just because. That's where my passion for baking began. I like to call it “Baking DNA” passed down from my mum.

As I got older, I was that person that always brought cakes and sweets to any event, I became the baker for all office birthday cakes and my friends and family were always asking me if I could help out with cakes for their special events.

I love being able to witness the joy and smiles that baked goods bring to people’s faces and being able to share in their special day through cake. So with the support of those close to me, it only seemed natural to turn my passion into my career and to bake the world a better place.

Any funny stories or requests from clients?

None that spring to mind so far; apart from the occasional 3am "crazy cake lady" moments,  perfecting the finest details on gorgeous cake masterpieces.

What do you do in your spare time?

I like to spend time with my partner Steve and our dog Scooby. I enjoy chilling out with my friends and getting to the gym to try and balance out my sweet tooth!

Your favourite place to visit in the Sutherland Shire?

A nice drive to any of the amazing spots within the National Park is always lovely, another of my faves is walking along the esplanade as the sun rises – beautiful!

What is your best advice for newlyweds?

Open, honest communication is key, and making time for each other no matter what.
