After spending years in the Middle East and making dresses for friends, Amy New has returned to her roots and back on the shores of the Sutherland Shire creating stunning gowns with a boho luxe feel! Us girls here at SW are already married, but man do we wish we had these clever hands sewing our dresses back in the day!

Who is Amy New Bridal: Amy New of course!

When did you start your business?

In 2014, while I was living in the Middle East.

What made you start your business?

I made a friends' wedding dress as she couldn't find the beach / boho style she was after in the Middle East for her destination wedding. I loved the experience of creating the dress for her big day so much, I knew it was the next step in my career.  I was a swimwear designer for 8 years, while making dresses on the side for bridesmaids, along with my own wedding dress. I'm drawn to the beach & bohemian luxe style that is done so well in Australia and love bringing this to wedding gown design.

None so far but stay tuned!

What do you do in your spare time?

Spend time with family and friends, swim and surf, design gowns

Your favourite place to visit in the Sutherland Shire?

I love Blackwoods and Oak Park beaches. And cruising by boat over to Jibbon for a day's relaxing and swimming in the clearest waters.

Are you married? If so, tell us about your wedding...

My gorgeous husband and I were married in Rose Bay and had our reception at the picturesque Wylies Baths in Coogee. It was the perfect venue to represent us, being by the sea, with a huge wooden deck overlooking the rockpools. We shared platters with our nearest and dearest, danced up a storm and took 5 minutes out to watch our guests celebrating from afar, a moment we won't ever forget!

What is your best advice for newlyweds?

Good communication is the key to a strong relationship!
